Has the cartridge stopped producing ink completely?  Or is your printer alerting you that the ink is low?   Cartridges still contain anywhere from 8-30% of their ink when this message starts to pop up.

Please can you ensure that you haven't got a clogged nozzle.  To do so,

  • Place some old newspaper down to capture any spillage of ink.
  • Remove the cartridges from your printer and switch your printer off.
  • Using a piece of damp kitchen roll, gently wipe the copper plates on the cartridges to give them a thorough clean.
  • Allow the chips to dry.
  • Once the chips are completely dry, reinstall the cartridges into your printer and switch the printer back on.  I would recommend that you run the print head cleaning programme on your printer to clean the heads and push the ink through.  For best results you should run the programme one or two times, any more will effectively be wasted ink.

Also, it is worth considering:

Page life provided for an ink cartridge is based on lab tests done following ISO standards.  When these tests are performed the same page is printed continuously on standard settings using standard A4 paper, unless it is specifically a photo cartridge where they may use alternative settings.  Keep in mind, there are countless variables when using at home, including, but not limited to, cleanings, printer clean cycles, saturation, etc.

The tests are based on 5% coverage of an A4 page. You can read more about 5% page coverage here.

When you print at home you may print full letters, images, photos, therefore printing pages that cover 25%, 50% up to 100% of the page will drastically decrease this provided page yield.

If you find that after following this procedure you are still having a problem please contact us, include your order number, the model of printer and provide us a copy of the print status report.
