If you see an unrecognised cartridge warning or similar on your printer, which can show on both Original or third-party ink cartridges, this is usually caused by contaminants, such as dust or even a fingerprint, on the copper contact plate on the cartridge, this can be in the manufacturing of the cartridge or even when unpacking at home.

Please follow these cleaning instructions to resolve the problem:

  1. Place some old newspaper down to capture any spillage of ink.
  2. Remove the cartridges from your printer and unplug it from the wall
  3. Using a piece of damp kitchen roll or lint free material, gently wipe the copper plates on the cartridges to give a thorough clean. Allow the chips to air dry for approximately 10 minutes
  4. Press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge
  5. Once the chips are completely dry, plug the printer back in (preferably directly into a socket rather than an extension lead) and reinsert the cartridges once the printer has completed it's set up process
  6. I would recommend that you run the print head cleaning program on your printer to clean the heads and push the ink through
